Transform your Jazzmaster into THE MOST desirable guitar with these pickups. Watch the YouTube video and hear what Brett Kingman has to say about his FatMasters.
Now with reduced height for easy install into extra shallow cavities.
FatMaster: All the highs you'd ever want and the midrange is well balanced with the right amount of piano-mid-tone detail that delivers exceptional clarity and definition. Exceptional dynamic range (far more than a Strat pickup). The huge, lush bass end has a nice kick, some refer to as springy or bouncy sound courtesy of the huge dynamic range.
Our FatMaster is so close to an original Jazzmaster pickup it would be hard to pick the difference, certainly there is nothing missing which is is a huge hurrah for our advanced Zero-Hum technology.
Incorporating staggered Alnico-K** rod magnets the sound is alive with dynamic response and oozing with tone and harmonic nuances. The sweet treble tones have not been compromised by Kinman’s technically advanced patented 600 Ohm hum cancelling mechanism and are silky and sweet.
Middle switch position (matched set of FatMasters on together) delivers authentic both-on-together sound with a wonderfully intense hollow cluck.
UPDATE: 12-July-2018 A mixed set of 2 FatMasters should be composed of ....
The FatMaster Extra is a new model with improved balance with the neck pickup (tonally and loudness-wise) which means the matching neck pickup can be adjusted higher to get all of it's tone and both pickups have the same volume. Both-on-together sound is absolutely wonderful with an intense hollow cluck, a touch of twang and some nice attack. With nice touch sensitivity all 3 positions have an airy lightness and are nice to play.
We recommend buying a matched set of FatMaster Extra for the bridge and a FatMaster for the neck position and not mixing with other models.
The 6 rod magnets are Kinman's proprietary Alnico-k** magnets which deliver cleaner sound devoid of string crash and pitch warble. Supplied with your choice of White, Parchment or Black covers. Original Fender covers are generally not suitable should you want other colors but Aged White and Cream covers without magnet holes are available on eBay. Use a brad point drill bit to make the holes to suit the additional non-standard magnet spreads we offer.
Some people will call these noiseless Jazzmaster pickups but Kinman prefers to describe them correctly as Zero-Hum Jazzmaster pickups. That's because there are 2 types of noise, Hum which is cancelled in the pickup and Buzz which can only be minimized by shielding the wiring cavities (refer to >Technical >Perfect Guitar >Shielding for newer guitars

Kinman pickups for Jazzmaster are direct replacements and usually no modification to the guitar is required.
Number of parts in this pickup: 28
Number of parts in regular single coil: 11
Number of parts in other brand noiseless: There are no other noiseless Jazzmaster pickups with Alnico rod magnets. Kinman is the only one and that makes it the coolest Jazzmaster pickup available.
Pickup adjustment
As with all Kinman Gen-2 pickups these are very sensitive to height adjustment. A good starting point, so the neck and bridge pickups balance, is with the two E strings fretted at the 15th fret, adjusted as follows ...
Cavity depth
Connection means available
Hook-up wires
Output Polarity
Pot & Capacitor values
Magnet spreads
Magnet Staggers
Mounting hardware included
Covers
We highly recommend consulting the Install Guide in Technical section even if you think you know it all. Kinmans' require specialized knowledge and sometimes there is updated info.
We also highly recommend consulting the Adjust & Set-up page under the Technical Stuff header so you get the best out of your Kinman pickups.
** Alnico-K is a unique proprietary rod magnet developed by Kinman in 1985. It is Alnico-5 but has 40% less string pull than Alnico-5 so sustain is longer and there is much less clatter from string crash and no Strat-itis string warble.

Hello,
I put your SirfMaster set with the Extra bridge pickup pickups into my Jazzmaster and just wanted to tell you that they sound fantastic.
greetings Robby
After using Kinman Jazzmaster pickups I don't see the point in using other pickups if I want a single coil sound. I have 3 sets and now going for the fourth set. I play indie and garage rock.
The Kinman FatMasters are excellent. And quiet, I mean like quieter than a humbucker, it's kind of amazing. Near the computer and all the rest of my outboard gear there’s a significant hum field and it's so nice not to hear that hum. I also like the low magnetic string pull. So how do they sound? Very, very, very close to my ’62 Fender Reissue. I’ve been going back and forth between my amp and the Kemper, playing at different volume levels and they’re stacking up well. The Kinmans can hear higher frequencies but I have them canted ever so slightly away from the treble side. To my ears a stock Jazzmaster, on the two pickup surf setting, has a lot of ping to it anyway, a glassiness to the top end. The Kinmans can do that sound easily. I like to back off that sound just a little with a touch less treble. They respond well to small height and tilt adjustments. Got some 500K pots I might play with in the future just to see how the Kinmans respond to that. But they’re definitely super close (with 1 meg pots) to the stock Fender pickups I have. So after playing with my FatMasters all day I am arriving at the idea that the Kinmans have a piano-like quality (especially on the wound strings) that stock Fender JM p-ups don't have. So instead of being concerned with matching '62 AVRI p-ups now we have to ask a new question: Where can the Kinmans sonically take me that I couldn't go before? This is an excellent dilemma for a guitar player to have ... These FatMasters are superb pickups. Nice to have a happy ending. Great work by all the folks at Kinman! Fan-damn-tastic! Thank you.
Hi Chris i just want to let you know that my Jazzmaster now sounds amazing. The SurfMasters are even better than I expected. I thought I'd notice an improvement mainly in the neck pickup but both pickups sound way better than the originals. thanks mate John Farrar (Composer’ Songwriter Los Angeles)
I believe these pickups for Jazzmaster (Fatmaster) is best choice to create clean and delicate tone more than Fender's original ones. Will order again for my Stratcaster !
Hey Chris, Just letting you know that I’ve had your set of your FatMaster pickups fitted to a J Mascis Jazzmaster and they’re fabulous. Really great. Tight, musical, perfect mix of brightness and stab. Fender should put them in all of their JM’s, I think. Best regards,
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!! I have just finished installing the FatMasters in my guitar. I honestly can't describe how happy I am. The guitar sounded good before - except for all the noise - but it's positively stunning now! It is exactly as you say... your pickups retain all the great qualities of the original pickups, but sound even better than the originals. I'll definitely be posting positive reviews in some forums soon, maybe with some example recordings, too. Thanks again!
Hi, I just wanted to let you know I absolutely love my new ThickMaster pickups. They have completely transformed my J Mascis Jazzmaster.
Just wanted to pass a message saying how happy I am with your pickups (FatMaster Neck & SurfMaster bridge). The sounds I'm getting from them is exactly what I was hoping for and represents a very distinct voice in my arsenal. I'll certainly consider you folks again as I work through new projects.
I bought your ThickMaster, these beauties sound amazing clean, dirty, and filthy!
I installed my Thickmaster pick up set and I just have to say thanks for making these pickups. I use a lot of drive effects and the pickups in the J Mascis were absolutely unusable due to to how noisy they were. The Kinmans are perfect, no noise beautiful tone. Money well spent. Cheers Steven
I can't understand why anyone who ever picks up a Jazzmaster, from the stage to the garage, would ever want anything besides your pickups!
Holy smokes these Kinman Thick-Master pickups are other-worldly. I wish I could rate you again just to give you 5 more stars on Reverb. Because of your pickups, my J Mascis has turned into the star of my collection. I could use all of the pickup sales buzz words to describe the sound but you know how special the pickups are. I assume that is one reason to keep doing what you do and much respect. From the first moment, there is genuine love from the warmth and complexity up to the searing presence and crunchy lows.
Hello again Chris & Joe. The pickups in the FatMaster (Extra) are incredible. Very unique sound. They handle distortion and gain extremely well. I love the sounds I am getting from them. The bridge, mid, neck positions are all voiced perfectly. The low noise is incredible. It allows me to try levels of saturation that I was never comfortable with due to the extreme noise (hum and electrical buzz). These pickups are dead quiet, and they were extremely easy to install.
Getting great clean tones as well from them. Very satisfied with my purchase. Before buying these I had been constantly searching for a guitar that would please me. I've owned tele, strat, epihpone sheraton, les paul, Ibanez with various different mainstream pickups in them. Nothing has ever fully satisfied what I wanted. The jazzmaster with these pickups finally allows me to just focus on playing, and dialing great tones.
I've been using a sansamp gt2 with these on my amp head. Incredible sound. My bands guitar recordings are now what we always envisioned, allowing us to achieve the album we had in mind sonically. Every distortion pedal I try with these pickups just sounds amazing. Thanks for working with me, and thanks for making such an excellent pickup. Have a great day guys.
Installed your Fastmasters in my Squier Jazzmaster a few days ago.
Wow - your pickups are orders of magnitude better than Fenders for Fidelity and Hum cancelling.
