Our Game Changing passive Converge-3 produces Zero-Hum authentic tones of these 3 guitars
and no battery is required ... how's that!!!
Our wonderful 6 string Converge-3
and our equally wonderful 7 string Converge-3
.... because this remarkable new Multi-Sound Converge-3 humbucker
makes sounds similar to those three guitars.
If you are reading this it shows you are interested in our amazing Converge-3 and you can be assured that all we claim about this amazing humbucker is accurate and true ... and we guarantee there is not one exaggeration or hyperbole on this page. Please read on ...
The Kinman 'Converge 3' is our Magnum Opus of humbuckers. It's our Pièce de résistance, a masterpiece; the most memorable accomplishment of one's career or lifetime, o-u-r Magnum Opus ..... and look Mum, no battery.
Main Points: Boss Chris has been at it again (he never rests), improving the Converge-3. Now it's a variable humbucker where four different Zero-Hum sounds converge and all have similar loudness. The caricature sound of a great P-90 or '59 Gibson humbucker as well as the split single coil sound of a Telecaster (bridge) and vintage Impersonator E56 (neck) ... all from one passive, switchable pickup and all sounds are organic (not sterile like active pickups).
The P-90 ~ Humbucker variations in humbucker mode happen on a small preset trim pot mounted on the Push\Push splitting control. The sounds range continuously variable from the focused growl of a P-90 with stellar highs to the broader growl of a typical humbucker' with a very fat but clear low E string (not muddy) and slightly softened highs.
Also consider our new K6 Goodbye Soldering Harness for Stratocaster, designed expressly for the Converge-3 where coil splitting is performed by a single 5 position lever switch ... instead of Push/Push switches mounted on the Tone pots.

Push/Push coil splitting switch and Tone control
Our durable Black cover
Direct replacement for conventional humbuckers such as Gibson, Duncan, EMG etc. However, some PRS cavities may require a little bit of deepening, there may be others. It is difficult to specify a cavity depth because it depends on the pitch angle of the neck in relation to the body. Minimum 30mm measured from the underside of the E-1st string (fretted at the 14th) to the cavity floor. Perfect for project guitars where you can specify the cavity depth.
The Split Single - Zero-Hum: the one producing the Fender sound has fixed rod magnets (like in the picture above).
The full humbucker sound - Zero-Hum: in a word is remarkable and versatile. Punchy low end with significantly more clarity than ordinary humbuckers. The plain strings sing with a fatter more beefy sound than the split single but still have good presence. The preset jangle control ranges the sound from fat n thick humbucker to bright and jangly P-90 single coil sound ... and anywhere in-between. We set it to a happy medium so there is an obvious difference to the split single coil sound but you can easily experiment to find your own preference.
Splitting Controls: A DPDT Push/Push switch is included for the purpose of splitting the coils. It has two purposes, first is the Push/Push switch that splits the coils and engages the hum-sensor .... and secondly the rotary part can be specified as a Volume control or a Tone control which has our switchable Hi-Definition Tone cap as well as a normal .022uF cap. A second option to split the coils is a mini-toggle switch which has the hardware bezel to mount in a 3/8 inch (9.5mm) hole for American pots. The same switching functions happen with both types of switch.
And recently we introduced our KHP-90 Goodbye Soldering Harness where the coil splitting is done on the 5 position lever switch.
Adjustment heights and Jangle control settings for the latest Converge-3 adjustments for Tele bridge and Strat neck version
Available in three pole spreads ...
Direct replacement for conventional humbuckers such as Gibson, Duncan, EMG, Fishman etc. However, some PRS cavities may require a little bit of deepening, there may be others. It is difficult to specify a cavity depth because it depends on the pitch angle of the neck in relation to the body. Best defined as ... Minimum 30mm measured from the underside of the E-1st string (fretted at the 14th) to the cavity floor. Perfect for project guitars where you can specify the cavity depth.
Replaces standard size humbuckers in all guitars but it's not suitable for modern Gibson Les Pauls that have controls mounted on a circuit board unless you ditch the Gibson harness and replace it with a Kinman KHP-90 Goodbye Soldering Harness. Gibson SG, ES-335 or other thin body guitars will require our optional mini-toggle switch because the splitting switch requires a minimum 35mm control cavity depth.

Unfortunately he doesn't explore the single coil sounds very much
but you WILL hear the stunning beauty of the humbucker sounds.
Hi Joe (and Chris),
It's finished ! And it sounds magnificent !! (and looks great too)
The whole project was very much a leap of faith, both in my installation ability and in the sound of the pickups, because I really only bought them based on your reputation. But I LOVE the sound ! The clarity and punch is just astounding, and the range of sounds is just what I was looking for. I particularly love the split sound on the neck pickup, which outdoes my strat, but every sound is wonderful, and I'm finding more by playing with the tone knob - which on all of my other guitars only added mud unless left on 10. I guess I will continue to try tweaking a little after I get used to them, to see if I can balance them any more.
I think your pickups are one of my best ever purchases. Thanks so much for a wonderful product and thanks so much for your help during the process.
Best wishes, Simon
I forgot to mention that I used the guitar for a rehearsal last night, and everyone said how much better my sound was :-)
Anyway, I have to go play now....
ED: Simon bought a pair of Converge-3, the neck one has Fender-like split single coil sound and the bridge has P90-like split coil single sound and both are noiseless (Zero-Hum). The neck pickup has our exclusive new 47-5mm pole spread and doesn't it align with the strings really well !!!
Thanks heaps for your glowing Report Card Simon, and for your confidence in our ability to deliver what we claim. After 4 years of developing the Converge multi-sound humbucker it is indeed very gratifying to hear how pleased you are with your new multi-sound Kinman's. It makes all the midnight oil and our long hard and often frustrating work all worth while to read your report. And thanks for the photo of your Variax too, looks cool with those 'Durable Black' covers and the 3 point mounting.
The Jangle control on your Converge-3 is a truly stellar feature! Brilliant tonal spectrum. And that's in addition to the already outstanding p-ups!!
Cheers, Erich
ED: thanks Erich, for confirming our thoughts that the Jangle control is a useful control which increases the versatility of an already highly versatile humbucker. Glad to hear also that you believe it's overall an outstanding pickup.
I had half an hour on my hands today, so I adjusted the pickup heights to suit and tried the jangle control (genius). Didn't take long at all to decide on the sound I wanted from each pup. I have to say, yesterday's enthusiasm has actually increased. These pickups are amazing. Cleans are wonderful, even on the bridge pickup, with no hint of harshness.
I have three excellent drive pedals from ThorpyFX and I had a quick blast with each of them. On higher gain settings, the previous Gibson bridge pup quickly became harsh (and frankly unpleasant). Nothing like that with the Converge-3. My Les Paul is now addictive in a way that it never was before. If I didn't have to put my son to bed soon - and actually keep quiet enough for him to sleep - I reckon I'd be playing all night!
merry christmas guys !!!!! Glenn
ED: Glenn bought one of our pre-release Converge-3 and installed it on his MusicMan Lukather.
