Gibson ES-335 - transformed by the Kinman Extra Vintage
Un-balanced coils but not un-balanced hum = Zero-Hum. All unbalanced coils in humbuckers produce some hum, but not Kinman's.
Better than conventional humbuckers for the Neck position because of minimized blur and mush factor. The 30% under-wound Extra Vintage has sweeter highs and more tone with detailed piano tones midrange than regular Vintage or PAF humbuckers, thanks to Kinman’s Triple Alnico Tone advantage. Nicely touch sensitive and responsive expression. Sweet brilliant highs and Pinch harmonics literally jump out.
Recommend mainly for the neck position paired with an Extra Vintage Astound in the bridge. We do not recommend mixing with any of the PAF types because of the large volume difference. If you want split single coil please consider the 2n1 Gen-2 which produces a great Fender sound.
Our Humbuckers cancel hum better than any other humbucker but there is another type of noise called 'buzz which can only be minimized by shielding the wiring cavities (refer to >Technical >Perfect Guitar >Shielding for newer guitars)

The neck pickup in the Extra Vintage Suite.
The Extra Vintage model has even more vintage flavor than a PAF. The 30% under-wound Extra Vintage has sweeter highs and more detailed midrange tone than regular Vintage or PAF humbuckers thanks to the Triple Alnico Tone advantage. Has some of the thwack factor of a P-90 thanks to improved attack. Midrange honk has been reduced so the sound is remarkably fresh and open. It is also noticeably more touch sensitive and responsive.
It's a cleaner sound on the wound strings (less growl) in the bridge position and sings sweetly on the plain strings with a nice harmonic bloom. The plain strings never sound offensive / harsh like they often do with conventional humbuckers. High end harmonic clarity shines through heavy distortion which is not the case with conventional humbuckers.
Works better than conventional humbuckers in the neck position because of minimized woof and mush factor and is also good for the Bridge position. A pair of Extra Vintage is highly recommended for Arch-top Jazz guitars since they produces a nice, sweet both-on-together sound and the bridge has a low growl factor.
Direct replacement for conventional humbuckers such as Gibson, Duncan etc. Some guitars (a few Ibanez, some Fender Strat and one or two others) have pickups with excessively rounded corners. If a pickguard is fitted (for example Fender Strat Deluxe) a small modification to the pickguard opening to accommodate a Kinman humbucker is well worth the effort since Kinman's sound so much better. The cavity in the body is suitable as it is.
Split single coil is the Secondary coil, the one without adjustable screw poles or the one that's closest to the opposite pickup.
